Ethan Cramer spent ten years as a professional in horticulture, first at the Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College and later at Chanticleer, a cutting-edge garden near Philadelphia, and the Delaware Center for Horticulture in Wilmington. Much of his training took place during the early years of Fine Garden Creations, a prestigious design/build firm in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. His training in philosophy and his broad experience in hands-on horticulture, plant records, interpretation, urban forestry and community gardening give him a unique perspective on ornamental horticulture’s theoretical framework.
Ethan now lives, gardens and writes in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. He works as a community organizer in a challenged neighborhood, a passion he discovered working with young people in vacant lots in Wilmington.
